Rev. Albert L. Wyche Jr. was born on June 30, 1950. He is married to Mrs. Linda Wyche and they are the parents of ten children. He is the son of Mr. Albert and Mrs. Mable Wyche of Disputanta, Virginia. He grew up under the watchful eye and tutelage of his grandmother, Mrs. Victoria White, and his grandfather, Mr. Anthony White. He was baptized by Reverend Jacobs, and a member of First Baptist Church in Disputanta, Virginia.
Rev. Wyche enlisted in the United States Army and arrived at Fort Benning, Georgia on his seventeenth birthday for basic training. After boot camp, he moved on to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for advanced training, and then returning to Fort Benning for Parachute Airborne Training (Jump School). After graduation from Jump School, he was assigned to the Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he was trained as a Parachute Rigger. Next he was assigned to the 600 Quartermaster Company at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1968. In December 1968, he volunteered for service in Vietnam and was assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade which participated in the ‘68/’69 Tet Offensive. After being medically evacuated from Vietnam, he was assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Devens, Massachusetts.
During his 22-year military service, he has served in assignments located in South Vietnam; Yokohama, Japan; Panama Canal Zone; Republic of Germany; and, Italy; as well as numerous state-side assignments.
Rev. Wyche retired from the Army at LANDSOUTH HQTRS in Verona, Italy, with the senior grade of Sergeant First Class on July 31, 1988. His highest military award was the Meritorious Service Medal.
Rev. Wyche, while working as a contractor and assigned to the Army Learning Center for Central Texas College, received the NATO Medal for Service while working with the Multi-National Peacekeeping Operation located in Bosnia, Hezegovina, in the former Yugoslavia.
A recent graduate with a Masters of Biblical Studies from Virginia Beach Theological Seminary, Rev. Wyche is currently pursuing his Masters of Divinity from the same distinguished seminary. Rev. Wyche is also an alumnus of the University of Maryland having earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in English Literature.
While serving on active duty, Rev. Wyche was ordained as an Elder/Pastor in the Faith Deliverance Pentecostal Church in Parmesans, Germany. After his retirement from the U.S. Army, he became a contract lay-minister working with the Army Chaplaincy Corps in Vicenza, Italy. While performing pastoral duties, he travelled to various isolated military installations throughout northern Italy where he preached the gospel in military chapels. Additionally, Rev. Wyche volunteered and worked with African refugees migrating into Italy,
Rev. Wyche was a member of Great Hope Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia beginning in 2009. Rev. Wyche was called to the position of Associate Minister. He was also appointed as Sunday School Superintendent where he maintained and directed eleven teachers in the organization of Sunday School services. Rev. Wyche was ordained in the Baptist denomination at Great Hope Baptist Church in June 2013.
Rev. Wyche was later called to the position of Assistant Pastor at Holy Ghost Baptist Church in Suffolk, Virginia where he served from August of 2013 until May of 2016. Rev. Wyche was a member at Norview Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia, where he taught the Adult Seniors Sunday School class from May of 2016, until the birthing and establishment of Blessed Assurance Ministries Church on September 10, 2017.
